Hospice is specialized care which focuses on the comfort, dignity, and the quality of life for those facing a terminal illness. Hospice philosophy is to provide quality of life and does not hasten death. The goal is to provide pain and symptom management so that each day is rich and meaningful.

Hospice care provides:
Pain Management:
Assess and discuss the patient’s, families, and caregivers’ goal for pain management. Collaborate with the patient, family, and caregivers to develop a plan for pain management. Assess the patient’s experiences with pain.

24/7 Nursing Support:
With Coastal Hospice, each level of hospice (including routine in-home care) provides 24/7 on-call support from nurses and medical providers who are trained in unique hospice-level care. They can access your loved one’s file, history, and notes from their in-home hospice nurses who see them regularly. Plus, as the primary caregiver, you provide valuable insight into physical changes or needs you observe.Â

Medications, Oxygen & Medical Equipment Related to Terminal Illness:
Having the proper medical equipment in good working condition and the medical supplies required allows patients to receive care in the location of their choice. The Coastal Hospice team will provide expert instruction and education to the patients and their caregivers on the proper use of all the hospice’s medical equipment and supplies. In addition, trained Coastal Hospice staff are available to provide support and answer questions about the use of the hospice equipment and supplies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Medicare, Medicaid, and most individual insurance companies cover 100% of hospice medical equipment and supplies related to a hospice patient’s terminal diagnosis. Our team will work directly with these organizations to coordinate this benefit.

Emotional & Spiritual Support:
Coastal Hospice can offer emotional support in many ways, depending on you, your loved one, and your family’s needs.Â
Spiritual care seeks to address a person’s religious or spiritual needs at the end of their life. This means caring for your loved one’s body, mind, and spirit — whatever that means to them.
Coastal Hospice care teams include both social workers and spiritual care counselors who are clinically trained to provide the emotional support and spiritual care that people (and their loved ones) need as they near the end of life.

Specialized Volunteers to Assist Families:
Coastal Hospice Volunteers play a vital role in end-of-life care, providing essential support to patients and their families during this challenging time. Hospice volunteers spend time with patients, providing companionship and emotional support. They engage in conversations, share hobbies, read, play games, or simply sit with patients. By offering respite to family caregivers, volunteers allow them to take a break and attend to their own needs. Caring for a terminally ill loved one can be physically and emotionally exhausting, so this support is invaluable.

Bereavement Groups and Support:
When someone you care for dies, you begin a sometimes-long process of bereavement. Coastal Home Health & Hospice’s Bereavement services are here to help you throughout this process. Although there are some similarities in how people grieve, each person is unique and learns to manage their grief in a way that fits their own situation- and we do everything in our power to work with you to help you experience and get through your grieving process in the way that works best for you.
Coastal Home Health & Hospice Bereavement services are offered to our patient’s families as well as to community members. Anyone who is experiencing grief from losing someone they cared about is welcome. The following bereavement services are offered:
