A Sea Aquarium
Is petting a shark on your bucket list? It is now. Your group will beam with delight as they touch a starfish at Ocean World aquarium. The aquarium has been in operation since 1964 and is a regional gem. Open seven days a week, you may need to go back and watch the sea lions’ playful, high flying performance again.
California Organic Cheese Tastings
Just one mile down the road from the aquarium is Rumiano’s Cheese Factory, the oldest family-owned cheese company in the state. You will leave smiling ear to ear not only because you’ll have boat-loads of cheese at reasonable prices, but you’ll also feel the pride the company has for their product and the land. Trees of Mystery
Wander south to Klamath for a real wonder – the Cathedral tree, part of the alluring Trees of Mystery experience. You’ll be swept away by the nine trees that have grown together to form a forest shrine. Hike majestic trails, admire the Paul Bunyan-inspired Tall Tales wood carvings, then hop on the graceful “Sky Trail” gondola ride where you can ride through the redwood treetops to an observation deck that overlooks backcountry ridges and the Pacific Ocean. For those who want more more thrills and heights (up to 100-feet high!), try the Redwood Canopy Trail which is one of only two Redwood forest canopy walks in the United States. Stop in at the impressive gift shop, fudge bar and the free museum featuring one of the best Native American “First Americans” tribal artifact collections around.
Drive Through a Redwood Tree
Create an indelible memorable for your entire troop. Just a little further south from the Trees of Mystery is Klamath’s Tour-Thru Tree. Carefully carved to ensure the ancient giant may thrive, you’ll tuck your side mirrors in and slowly roll through a piece of history. Instagram gold! Don’t worry if you happen to arrive when the redwood drive-thru tree is closed, there is an onsite honor box to pay your drive-thru tree entrance fee.
Gambling at Three Casinos
We bet you will find more thrills at any of the area’s three casinos. Check out Lucky 7 Casino’s lodging, dining, gaming and events right off Highway 101 north of Crescent City. Delight your eyes and ears with a concert in the casino’s event center. Set up a solid basecamp at Howonquet Lodge, designed by the Tolowa Dee-Ni’ Nation in tribute to the Tolowa Tribe.
